Very few people, and especially very few teenagers and young adults, understand what it actually takes to protect the dream that God placed on their heart. Most expect the path to be clear. Mario wrote this book so that young people meet the hardships before the hardships meet them.
The lessons come out of his own road: a seven year old in Douglas County who decided he was going to the NBA, a walk on at Georgia Tech who was not supposed to make it, a run with the Harlem Globetrotters, and finally the Atlanta Hawks and the New Jersey Nets, where his job was to guard the best scorers in the world.
Poverty, neglect, naysayers, self doubt, setbacks, and rejection all appear in this book. So does the way through each one, built on six pillars: endurance, passion, humility, discipline, faith, and determination.
Each lesson is written like a play a coach would call, so it is usable under pressure rather than only inspiring.
Endurance, passion, humility, discipline, faith, and determination, applied to real decisions.
Reflection prompts built in so readers apply each play to the situation they are living right now.
A rose grows through a crack in the sidewalk. The first lesson in resilience, written for the youngest dreamers.
Twenty plays, six pillars, and a workbook built in. Written for teenagers and young adults.
